All my problems in life comes from love’ - Beverly Osu

Nollywood actress Beverly Osu has revisited the sex scandal involving her and her fellow Big Brother Africa housemate, South African dance teacher Angelo Collins, in 2013. In a recent conversation with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Osu still maintained that she didn’t have sex with the South African dancer on the reality show as purported by viewers. Admitting that the scandal significantly affected her career in the early stages, the actress stated that all the challenges she has faced in life were due to love. She stated that she was madly in love with Angelo and was too comfortable around him, sparking rumours that they were having sex on the show. She said, “I have people that love me for who I am. And the highlight of it is that, I didn’t do it [have sex on reality show]. I was 20… I brought out so many things from Big Brother other than that [my relationship with Angelo]. I was so irritated because that was the only thing viewers picked because I was in love. Literally, it w...

Apple’s encryption row with UK should not be secret, court rules

A judge has sided with a coalition of civil liberties groups and news organisations - including the BBC - and ruled a legal row between the UK government and Apple over data privacy cannot be held in secret. The Home Office wants the right to be able access information secured by Apple's Advanced Data Protection (ADP) system, citing powers given to it under the Investigatory Powers Act. At the moment Apple has no such capability - such data can only be accessed by the user - and says it does not want to create what it calls a "backdoor" into ADP because of concerns it would eventually be exploited by hackers and criminals. The government's request prompted fierce criticism from privacy campaigners and some US politicians.  In February,  Apple pulled ADP from the UK  and in March it launched legal proceedings against the government, in a case which is being heard by the Investigatory Powers Tribunal. The government argued it would damage national security if the nature...

The Value Of Teachers, Teaching and Education

Who is a teacher? A teacher is a person who helps others to acquire knowledge, competencies or values. Teachers can be referred to using a variety of titles such as educator, tutor, instructor, schoolteacher, master, mistress, coach, trainer, lecturer, professor, don, fellow, reader, academic, guide, mentor, counselor, schoolman, and so forth. Teaching is a noble work with good incentive. It is indeed a most vital profession. Teachers lay the essential foundation for a person’s education. Even the best professors at the most prestigious universities are indebted to teachers who took time and effort to prime and cultivate their desire for education, knowledge and understanding. In fact, all top policymakers in the public and private sectors have been taught by a teacher at some point in their lives. A good education is very important. In the Holy Scriptures, for example, we are strongly encouraged to acquire wisdom. For example, in Proverbs Chapter 3, Verse 21 [b], we read: “Safeg...

Bauchi Poly installs CCTV To Tackle Insecurity, Exam Malpractices

The Federal Polytechnic in Bauchi State has installed closed-circuit television cameras in some strategic examination halls to tackle insecurity and also curtail the menace of examination malpractice. The rector of the institution, Sani Usman, stated this in an interview with newsmen on Sunday on the sidelines of the 2025 resource inspection and accreditation visit by the National Board for Technical Education to the polytechnic. The rector said, “We have incorporated CCTV cameras in some key classes because most of our classrooms now have solar inverters that we use for that. “I’m assuring you that we are also working on a TETFund research that has been granted for the last two years and the research is almost completed so that CCTVs can also be put outside of the classroom’s environment. “This move is further to tackle insecurity as well as examination fraud that takes place outside of the classrooms in the institution.” According to the rector, the inspection and accreditation...
